I worked with the creative director / graphic designer on the Sheridan Insider project, which is the internal newsletter for faculty and staff of Sheridan College. I helped develop a custom WordPress theme including custom post type customization and additional custom functionality.
- Responsive Design has 2 optimized layouts, for both mobile and desktop
- Graceful degredation down to Internet Explorer 7
- Development includes coding with LESS for CSS 3
- Basic WordPress functionality has been extended to include a custom Content Management System setup where administrators can add new blog links to the Sheridan Community page as the community grows.
- Disqus for enhanced comment management and spam filtering.
- I made it very easy for administrators to send out a new, beautifully formatted email with all of the latest posts. It’s as easy as copying and pasting a chunk of text and sending it to the IT department to send as a news blast using email campaign software. This custom developed tool does all the work based on post date.
- I developed a backend page for administrators to collect a cluster of posts based on the most recent date to be published in HTML format in a newsletter. Code is automatically generated in HTML formatting depending on the most recent collection of posts and is ready to be sent as a newsletter using email campaign software.
- The entire site archive is searchable and can also be browsed through Category and Archive filters.
- There is a link to subscribe to new posts through an available RSS feed using your favourite RSS reader.
Though the Sheridan Insider was a joint effort with the creative director / graphic designer, I personally handled all of the above-mentioned points.
